What happens on an Agafay camel ride trip

1. 3:00 PM, free pickup at your hotel or riad in Marrakech or the surrounding area, shared with other guests, or in a private car with paid VIP transport. The drive takes about 40 to 60 minutes.
2. The camel ride across the stone hills of Agafay, in the late-afternoon light, out of the midday heat. With a quad or buggy trip, the ride comes before or after your drive.
3. Around 7:00 PM, dinner with a live show in the desert.
4. Back in Marrakech around 8:00 PM.

How long is the camel ride, and how much does it cost?

Is it a sunset camel ride?

Only in part of the year. With a 3:00 PM pickup and dinner around 7:00 PM, the sun sets while you are in the desert from about October to February. Camel or dromedary?

The "camels" you ride in Morocco are dromedaries, the one-humped kind that lives in North Africa. In everyday English, and in Marrakech, everyone simply calls them camels.

What to wear and bring

Comfortable trousers are easier on a camel than a short skirt or shorts, and closed shoes help when you get on and off. Bring sunglasses and water (large bottles aren't included), and from about October to April a warm layer for the evening.

Agafay or the Palmeraie for a camel ride?

The Palmeraie, on the edge of Marrakech, is the closest place for a camel ride, among palm trees. Agafay is about 40 to 60 minutes away and feels like real desert: open stone hills with the Atlas Mountains on the horizon, and your trip ends with dinner and a show. Pickup, booking and cancellation

Pickup is free at 3:00 PM from your hotel or riad, in Marrakech and the surrounding area: the Palmeraie, the Ourika and Fès roads, and Agafay desert hotels. The free pickup is shared with other guests; for a private car just for your group, choose paid VIP private transport when you book.
